A Bit About Me...
- Most people know me as Jenine; I’ll answer to Neeny…but never Jen!
- I’m a deep believer in the red thread and carry the love and energy of my ancestors with me…always
- I love avocado and vegemite on toast, and if I feel fancy, I will add some sliced tomato or an egg
- I believe that magic happens when women support women
- I trust the universe will support me. Always!
- Early mornings don’t work for me, but I’m all in for late-night chats…especially if a good coffee and cheeseboard are involved…and maybe a wine or two
- Laughing until my face hurts and tears stream down my cheeks is my kind of therapy
I have always felt a call to service. I had a quick stint (about 6 weeks) as a nurse before I very quickly figured out that the bureaucracy of the hospital system was not for me. So with a slight sideways step, I spent the next 15 years working in the disability sector. I even started my own business in 2016, which grew into an Australia-wide company within five years.
But even while growing that business there was always a calling to birth work. I heard it when I was young as a need to be a midwife, but that clearly wasn’t going to work for me. Then one day, I heard the call of my ancestors.
Deep within I heard and felt a stirring and pull to birth work, and instantly everything fell into place. I was able to step out of my masculine (which my other business required me to be firmly placed in) and finally embrace my divine feminine. The call to service I felt so strongly finally filled my cup as I walked beside beautiful folk as they prepared to bring their babes earthside. I finally knew…deep within, that this was my why, and I was ready to give everything to it!
But after a few years as a birth worker (through a worldwide pandemic, might I add), I realised being a birth worker was a lonely undertaking. As much as I loved it and it filled my cup daily, I missed having colleagues to bounce ideas off, and to learn with. Someone to share the wins and the occasional losses. I realised it really is the epitome of being a sole trader. And that’s when I decided that I should start offering business mentoring and coaching to other birth workers.
Remember, everything you need is within you!
Even though my days of pregnant bellies and babes in my arms are long gone, I remember them like yesterday. I remember the excitement and joy, the fear and anxiety, the embarrassment of hopping on the scales at the OB’s office, and the almost painful ultrasound experience. The wondering if everything is ok mixed with the pure thrill of seeing your bub on the screen.
I also remember giving birth – four natural, unmedicated hospital births, including two bubs over 10lb (4.5kg). Even back then, as a 19-year-old with my first pregnancy, I trusted birth. I knew that my body and baby would do what they needed to do, and all I had to do was trust…and get out of the way.
In the same way I trusted my body to birth my baby, when I quit my job as Service Manager in a community services organisation to start my own business, I trusted that it would work. I knew I had what was needed to build a successful and sustainable business. Now, I have done it twice.
It is this ability to trust the process that I want to bring to you in your journey working with me. Through authentic connection, I want to ensure you feel supported to connect with your innate power and bring forth the outcome you desire…whatever that may mean for you.
